We recently explored the repercussions such a ban could have on small businesses and their customers by surveying 1,000 American business owners and consumers. Our results offer a comprehensive view of the TikTok ban’s potential economic ripple effects in the U.S.

Methodology

We surveyed 200 business owners and 800 Americans to explore sentiments regarding the potential TikTok ban. Among business owners, business sizes were as follows:

  • 76% micro (1-9 employees)
  • 14% small (10-49 employees)
  • 5% medium (50-249 employees)
  • 7% large (250 or more employees)

We grouped micro and small business owners as “small business owners” (89%). Among business owners, 45% were Democrats, 18% were Republicans, 35% were independent, and 2% preferred not to say.

Of the general population survey, 53% were millennials, 21% Gen Z, 19% Gen X, and 7% baby boomers. As for political affiliation, 49% were Democrats, 20% were Republicans, 27% independent, 2% were other, and 1% preferred not to say. The survey was conducted on March 13, 2024. Note: percentages may not equal 100 due to rounding.
